NEUROTOXINS

Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are all popular neuromodulators that work similarly to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for causing them.

Here's a breakdown of each one:

  • Botox: This is the most well-known and widely used of the three. It's FDA-approved for treating fine lines and wrinkles, particularly around the forehead, eyes (crow’s feet), and between the eyebrows. Botox is also commonly used for off-label purposes like lifting the brows or creating a "lip flip" to enhance the appearance of the lips.

  • Dysport: Similar to Botox but with a slightly different formula, Dysport spreads more easily over a larger area, making it particularly effective for treating larger areas like the forehead. Some people find that Dysport works faster than Botox, with results typically seen within a few days.

  • Xeomin: Known for being "purer" than Botox and Dysport because it doesn't contain any additives, Xeomin is a great option for people who may have developed a resistance to other botulinum toxins. Like Botox, it's effective for treating fine lines and wrinkles, but many people find it lasts a little longer.

While they are most commonly used for cosmetic purposes, these treatments have medical applications as well, such as reducing excessive sweating, treating migraines, or addressing muscle spasms. Each brand has its own unique properties and dosing recommendations, but all three have been clinically proven to be safe and effective for cosmetic use when administered by a licensed professional.
